I vowed never to post pictures of food here, but I just had THE saddest meal of my life. My heart breaks for the burnt, leathery crape posing as a sausage and the ocean flavoured tofu disguised as ‘grilled barramundi’. The only good thing the 3 of us could come up for the 3 meals was that the steamed zucchini was edible and there was a generous serving of gravox.

I don’t know how long it’ll take me to forgive food. #nofilter, there’s no saving this one. (at the new ivanhoe hotel)

Very nsfw but so very good.

The just-dropped video clip for Late Night has got to be one of the best things about the most recent Foals album Holy Fire. Though a little sub par to their previous two releases, Holy Fire isn’t really a bad album. In the slightest. it’s just that this ~~clip~~ visual masterpiece, directed by Nabil Elderkin, takes the song to a new level. It’s a feast for the eyes and ears and works so well I’m worried about the next guy directing a Foals clip.

I expected no less from the man responsible for one of the finest video clips this side of the Tweenies (aka 2010 +) [CLICKKKKKKKK]

His equally intriguing tumblr also informs me he’s doing some work with James Blake. How wonderful.

The Knife // Full of Fire

Without any exaggeration, this has to be one of the most exciting pieces of music I’ve heard in the last few years.

A 10 minute song can feel like a chore and I’ll often make it a highlights reel of of it, chopping it up and skipping 2-3 mins at a time. But not this. About 5 seconds in, you’re completely hooked. And when it’s over you want to press the reply button.

I hope I never get sick of this. Shaking The Habitual, come at me.

Sure “AB” hasn’t been around for “that long” but this track is at least several Internet years old. Positing it now should only be done in the “hey remember when this song came out and everybody lost their fucking mind over it?! Remember how insanely good it was and how you had it on repeat for 2 days straight?!” way. But not in a “one to watch” sense. We’ve been watching, and she peaked with that debut track that was soooo big I don’t know how you’re only noticing now. Especially seeing as you like to call yourself a “journalist”. I imagine if a music yearbook (decadebook?) of the class of the 1990s existed, Beck would have been voted “the least likely to record a breakup album”. Sure, he’s one of pop music’s greatest chameleons, but I don’t think anyone predicted he’d go down the path of recording an entire album about heartbreak. But on this day, exactly 10 years ago, Beck Hansen released 12 tracks about deflated expectations in the form of Sea Change. As beautiful as it is… well, sad, really, I feel like Sea Change hasn’t aged a day since its release in 2002.
